Mystery detective game with a Bollywood twist
Detective Dotson is a premium adventure game developed by Masala Games Private Limited. It is a detective mystery journey with a unique Bollywood twist. In it, players will take control of an actor-turned-amateur sleuth as they investigate the mysterious circumstances behind the passing of a loved one.
Much like The Darkside Detective or Until Then, Detective Dotson takes players on a journey of discovery and truth through a world filled with intrigue and secrets to be revealed at every turn. Players will need to piece together every clue they find to find out what truly happened.
Bollywood detective
Detective Dotson revolves around the titular Dotson, an aspiring Bollywood actor who became a detective instead, on a case to investigate the events surrounding the mysterious death of his father. What starts as a normal investigative query becomes a complex web of secrets that slowly unravel with each clue he finds. At the heart of it all is a heartfelt story of love and family.
You will work on four unique cases as you explore rural India, from busy streets to packed markets and religious temples. Rely on a bartering system to open up conversations with the over 50 unique characters you will meet and interact with, and gain information and clues from them. Haggle and bargain using all kinds of items, including food, jewelry, and all kinds of other knick-knacks.
Engage in various mini-games like street cricket and Bollywood-themed dance-offs along the way. Winning them also increases your bargaining power, encouraging you to do well. That said, some aspects of the gameplay, like the fetch quest, do become dull and repetitive after some time. Aside from that, though, this is a charming and well-made cozy detective game that pretty much anyone can enjoy.
A love letter to India
All in all, Detective Dotson is a charming detective mystery adventure with a heartfelt story. Players get to experience a little bit of Indian culture through its quirky characters, diverse food choices, and market bazaars filled with haggling people. Despite some repetitive moments and gameplay here and there, it gets an easy recommendation. Check it out now and see for yourself.
